I'm about to do a rebuild project on my MR2, and wondered if anyone on here would have some advice or recommendations on places that can undertake the machining work. The block needs to be bored, head needs porting etc, and I'm also interested in places to get work done to the crankshaft, such as knife-edging.

TIA
Ant

Businesses are not allowed to be advertised here. I don't know if you will get a response.

Where abouts are you based? I know somebody in Coventry who does all that, in fact he's got the Green V8S motor in his garage as we speak ...

Had car for a year but had 1242 bottom end with ported head, cut valve-guides, polished valves, lightened crank/ flywheel, increased compression, high rise cam, induction kit, de-cat 4-2-1 manifold for 500 miles. got a battery problem tho so the ecu keeps starting a fresh. It really is no faster than it was as an 1108 at the minute, and has same gearing (should be longer).

£3300 total cost: 550 engine +box from punto 75. £2750 to my engine man.

I see you're in Crawley. I recognise the carpark in which you had your meet (nee burnout).

These people are pretty good. I can't vouch for their workmanship, but I had a sticky situation a while back. I needed an M10 (ISO Metric Special) tap, which I needed to clean up a hole.

It was lucky because they had one. List price was vast, but the guy said I could borrow his if I left the list price as a deposit. He said that if it was returned undamaged, he'd refund my deposit.

He was good to his word.

As per class two autograss rules... spec is as follows...

1300 SR engine bored to 40 thou or 1mm for those that cant do imperial, thats the max your allowed.
Skimmed head, 3 angle valves and seats.
32 webber and a K&N on a *&$% manifold running through a 32mm restrictor plate. All cars must run the restrictor although carb and manifold are free.
GVM 4 branch exhaust manifold and system.
Avo adjustable suspension all round.
