What Volvo?

Hello!

I’m looking to replace my little Abarth 595 in the next 6 months. I’m now mainly doing a once-a-week long motorway slog (225miles) and want to be able to chuck bikes and house stuff into a car with less faff, more economy and more comfort.

Volvos appeal - always liked the shape of a V70 and they seem better value than the German equivalents.

Budget is £4-5k (though I’d rather spend a bit less if I can get away with it). I’ve done a bit of research and am left a bit confused on the best engines to go for etc... I’m not set on a V70 (I don’t *need* that much space), so would be happy with a V50 but again, not sure which is supposed to be the one to go for.

So! What do you all reckon? What would you recommend?

The D5 is the pick when it comes to Volvo's, the V50/60 is basically a Focus underneath so maybe consider one of those too.

My pick would be the Mondeo in either in Titanium X Sport or Titanium X Spec.

Mercedes E320cdi Avantgarde SE these are pretty much bulletproof and you have a nice smooth V6d to waft around in.
