Just had a Fabspeed fitted to my 3.4 996.
Sounds awesome! It's not very loud untill the engine is at running temp, then it's very loud! Louder than the clip on thier website would suggest.

There is a huge difference in sound from engine being cold to engine hot, how strange.

Cool! I really fancy having one fitted.
How is it at motorway speed and how much did it cost fitted?

It cost £700 and I had a Porsche specialist fit it for £95, so just under £800 in total.

Difficult to explain how loud it is at motorway speeds, I would certainly say it's not TOO loud, but far louder than the standard item.

Feel free to come and have a listen if you find yourself in the Dorset area.

Cool, thanks for that. Its a lot more sensible than my OPC are charging for the Porsche version £1200 - supply only!

Would love to hear it but don't often find myself in Dorset
Thanks for the offer though.

...I think the Fabspeeds can be gratingly boomy at motorway speeds. I have the Porsche SE and find it to be fantastic - cold and warm temps, low and high revs! You should be able to get it for less than £1,200 if you shop around.

mmm, would like the PSE but my OPC claims £1200 is the list price for supply only (would get JZM to fit). Are other OPC's likely to offer them at a ower price? I dont want the switch, for obviuos reasons.

I had a fabspeed exhaust fitted to my 99 C2 Cab. I have to say that even at £3-400 cheaper I wish I had bought the Porsche Sports Exhaust. IMO it sounds better and yes, at around 2000 rpm the Fabspeed does boom. I will say that it has softened in the months since it was fitted. However, it reminds me of my old janspeed exhaust that I had on my XR2 back in '87!
My friend has the Sports Exhasut on his 03 C2 and it definitely sounds better...plus you can switch it off.........man, I would be doing that on the motorway all the time....

I have a dual outlet Fabspeed for my 964 that I haven't fitted yet. Does anybody have any experience of them? Are they as boomy as the 996 items?

Thanks for the honest post! Looks like I'll be saving up my pennies for a PSE £1200

On a related note, I heard a 996 C4 with Fabspeed by-pass pipes at portiacraft - it was mad loud

Do Porsche do a PSE for the GT3?

The PSE is better quality. I have a fabspeed and it's very boomy at 2k rpm. However, it is louder than the PSE, and under full load, sounds far more agressive.

In retrospect, I'd have paid the extra and opted for the PSE, as the fabspeed is annoying as hell on the motrway!
