been looking at 135 and 335i convertibles recently and a 3 series has come up - it ticks all (quite extensive list) boxes, except i don't think i can cope with the red interior...

outside is white...

if the top didn't come off and show it in all its bright, attention grabbing glory i don't think i'd mind as much.. is it this bright in real life? what are your thoughts if one of these pulled up next to your work van in traffic?

edit - car is now sold so it doesn't even matter any more... i snooze, i lose!

I know now a moot point, but all on personal preference.
I don't like any colour leather / interior other than black or noir.
My brother had an e46 330 in grey leather, didnt float my boat.

A guy I live next to has a 435d vert with red leather on black paint. Doesn't look as bad in person. But again I wouldn't buy it.
I think I prefer the understated look.

I see a lot of new cars with red leather, so someone must be ticking that box when ordering, unless you get a discount or bmw get a bulk deal on red animal hide laugh

Seriously? People actually care this much what others will think of them?

I’m willing to bet that 99.2% of the population will neither look, nor care what colour leather you have in your car.

I've always fancied a car with a red interior but it means having a fairly muted paint job. And I like bright coloured cars!

To me it's more about been able to sell the thing on when I'm done with it. I have seen red leather that I liked on an Aston but wouldn't buy as the resale market is a fraction of that for cars with black leather.

Shame you missed out on the car. frown

Red interior can look great. Depends on the red (and also the exterior of the car).

My wife’s car is white with a red interior, doesn’t look out of place I don’t think.

Black with red looks really good imo.

Check out fastbikes76's red interior 6 Series:

Only works on certain exterior colours, IE Black, Grey, White, or Silver, Had it on my Silver E39 M5 almost never viewed it cos looked awful in pics, in the flesh looked fantastic and bought immediately, My E46 in Black with red leather looked amazing and everyone that saw it loved it in the flesh, and my current 340 Touring grey with red leather and totally love it but red never comes across well in pics as it tends to 'over expose'.

I had a 4 series in grey with ‘coral’ interior. Loud at first but grew to really like it. Everything black can make a car a bit of a coal mine imo.

How red is red ?

I picked up my Z4 today with what looks red but is more terracotta - Magmarot in Dutch so I guess Magma or Lava red in English. I love it.

Anything is better than the classic black, or worse still that horrible dull grey BMW used to love.

I reckon if you bought a car with a funky coloured interior, as long as the car wasn't a lemon you'd warm to it very quickly.

I'd love to buy an Individual BMW for this reason. But unfortunately mine are black&grey and black&dark red frown

EDIT - I think convertibles can get away with an even more flamboyant interior. I've seen the red interior above in a Z4 and thought it looked lovely.

Personal taste, out of all leather interior I find black dull as hell.

The big gripe I have is when you spec a colour nowerdays the dash stays fully black most of the time.

For me black leather in a BMW is about as miserable as it gets when you can choose other colours. frown

I've had a Z4 in Ruby Black with Pearl Grey, another Z4 in Montego Blue with Pearl Grey, a 3 Series in Sparkling Graphite with Lemon and currently have a 3 Series in Sparkling Graphite with Beige and a Silver Grey Z4M Coupe with Imola Red interior which gets back to the topic!

Buy what you want - do you really care what other people think, and how many will actually notice?

I had an F30 with grey/coral. It worked really well, gave some nice contrast to the interior and wasn't quite as TOWIE as BMW's light interiors can be.

This.
Personally I'm am fan of a red interior, I think BMW call it coral and it certainly makes a white car look a lot more interesting. I also think more highly of people who have the balls to buy what they want and don't piss around living a bland life.
