Ex rental car missing service history
Discussion
Hello
My sister & husband are considering whether to buy a Ford Focus 1 litre EcoBoost Zetec 2018 with 27k miles. They went to see it yesterday however there was no service history included in the book despite the advert stating Service History.
The seller, I believe a small independent, stated the car was ex Avis rental car and servicing was done in house. He said he would get the service history on Monday. I believe the car should have had 2 services as should be at 12500 miles or a year on this engine.
Would you buy this car and what evidence would you like to see to prove service history?

It’s a Ford Focus, plenty to pick from would be my advice.
Most of which at that age will be ex rental.2 year/18k intervals I believe and yes the rental company would have serviced it in house and the dealer should be able to get proof, it will likely be an A4 bit of headed paper with what's been done.
If it's a nice car and priced well, I'd be fine with it.
I bought an ex Fiat finance daily renter last year, it was sold to the Alfa dealer as having been serviced, but as they had no evidence they done a service on it and undertook that the warranty was valid.
2 days later the evidence came though, so it has been serviced twice in 3000 miles,
Rental usually get serviced as no one wants one flashing service at them constantly.
Ive had a fe ‘ex management’ cars (usually 12-18 months old) over the years, as long as you know that and theyre the cheapest on Autotrader and inspect OK, theyre fine. For some reason they often have replacement windscreens and an odd tyre though, condition usually average.
