Social media bullying
Discussion
My 14 year old daughter is being bullied on social media by some little b
h at school. She has her cousins helping her as well. Are the police likely to do anything i was thinking the ideal thing would be to put the s
ts up this little sod and have the police call round or ring her. Or should i go round and have a word with her myself or parents. Or throw eggs at her house.

Delete her account, get her a new entirely private one that only you/trusted friends are on?
Though screenshot all the bullying before you bin it and let the school handle that. Depending on the school you might or might not need to threaten to go over their heads to get something done about it.

Apologies for being mildly OT ... but That’s just not true. Plenty of adults get bullied, harassed and cajoled via social media. It is not the victims fault. The handling of the matter by ANY external party does not justify any reasoning.Back OT
My nephew was bullied (roughly 8mths) and then groomed (for the latter 4mths) on Insta. The school thankfully took the bullying part very seriously and the special police task force took the grooming element extremely seriously too but sadly nothing came of it formally.
Persuade her that the best thing she could do is delete social media. Not to sound old fashioned (I’m only 28!). But social media has a lot to answer for and causes more problems than good for young people.. it’s of course a brilliant tool when used in the right way, I have an account which just has family members and a few close friends and works perfectly, at one time I had 5000 ‘friends’ on Facebook would walk past people in the street who wouldn’t even acknowledge you,

Are we talking actual bullying or just being a bit mean?

Or
Your wearing the wrong shade of lipstick and your parents shop at poundland.
Seriously, if you can try and be objective. Shutting down her social media or giving it a month break before starting again (very restricted access) might not be the worst idea.

I've never understood why people put up with getting abuse on social media.
Surely she can just block whoever is doing it and then she won't see it ?
Or am I being too naive here ?
Bullies are as insidious, and as hard to stop as japanese knotweed. Remove one form of communication, such as the direct contact through text or social media, and they'll just find another, such as spreading rumours through friends around the entire school. The problem needs to be treated at the source, i.e. the bullies themselves need to to be educated and corrected.Surely she can just block whoever is doing it and then she won't see it ?

Raise this with the school's safeguarding officer. It's actionable within the existing school disciplinary policy and the Home Office approved mantra of "British Values" in the first instance.
Make them aware that it will be raised with the police as well if any further incidences arise.

When I was a child at school.....many moons ago.....if you went to a teacher or headmaster or your parents did,the bullying got worse because you were then seen as a snitch.
We had to put up with it or handle it ourselves.
Thank god there was no internet in my day, must be a nightmare for some kids
