Does anyone know how long the Astars warranty is for clothing? I can't find warranty details for the UK (but it could be my low skill at Google-Fu wobble ).

What clothing? Gloves should be 2 years, you'll need your receipt and to go back via your retailer ideally.

I'm a bit miffed that my boots just gave up on me.

I've probably only had them about 20 years..

Is Alpinestars better than Rukka? For fixing a jacket under warranty – in my experience now – I’d now say that Astars blew the bloody doors off Rukka. The Italian repair job was less hassle, and a much quicker turnaround. Bravo!

And the shop said exactly the same things as SAS Tom about Astars vs. Dainese warranty repairs:

SAS Tom said:
When I worked in a bike shop I would say that Alpinestars probably sold the most and came back the least. Their support is great even offering things like putting new soles on boots for a very reasonable price.

Dainese was reliable but when it went wrong the support from Dainese was crap. They seem to do everything in slow motion.

When the drawstring snapped on my supertechs I sent an email to A* and they sent some cord out very quickly and at no charge. The boots were a few years old, not that they asked or quibbled in any way.

Had an Alpinestars jacket I really liked and zipper broke, was about 20 months old. Went into shop who sent it to Alpinestars who in turn said they don't make that jacket any more. Ended up buying an Oxford Advanced jacket and think it's brilliant.

Alpinestars boots disintegrated at about 23 months, the warranty was only 1 year though but thankfully Gore Tex cover it for 2, so Gore Tex ended up giving me a full refund and I used that to put towards some Daytona boots.

Must say my experience of Alpinestars has been good in that the items have been replaced, but has made me very questioning of the quality so I won't be buying any more. That being said I've got Rukka gloves, on my fourth warranty replacement (now outside the 2 year window) and I definitely won't be buying another pair of gloves from them.

Zipper on my AS jacket burst open after about two years (not due to the jacket being over tight...).

The zipper on my alpinestars jacket broke after about 18 months. Alpinestars just replaced the whole jacket for free rather than, as I thought they would, replacing the zipper. The dealer, Helmet City, said that Alpinestars were a bit unpredictable with this sort of thing in that sometimes they repaired and sometimes they simply replaced!

Thanks
