Hello all, does anyone have any experience/thoughts on a Golf GTE mk7.5?

Going through my work salary sacrifice scheme, and it stipulates that the car has to be below 75g/km emissions and the Golf GTE seems to be the only decent choice. Due to parking where I live, sadly I cannot choose a full EV.

Is it worthwhile waiting for the Mk8 GTE? Or any other suggestions which are less than 75g/km which dont need to be plugged in every day.

Cheers!

We've been running one for 2.5 years now and its a great car.

Its a Golf, so you know what you're getting in terms of practicality and driving style. If you go for the Advance you get digital dash and extras which are probably worth it.

It is probably one if not the best example of a plug in hybrid. around 15-25 miles in electric. 40mpg - 70mpg in hybrid and it shifts more than is 204bhp suggests in GTE mode.

The only negative is the hard ride and damping because of the weight.

Problem is like most plug in hybrids, if your not able to plug it in its pointless because you will be lugging about an extra 250kg of batteries for no reason. Hence I would try and look at normal hybrid like a Lexus. However if its your only choice stick it in GTE mode and enjoy!

If you can't plug it in then it's not really worthwhile but if your scheme gives you this as the only worthwhile option then I'd say gor for it & enjoy as a normal just without the quoted economy.
