Is This a Lea Francis?

Pictures of Dad's car in the early '50s, I think it is a pre-war Lea Francis. Is this correct?

I think you're probably correct, but I'll use the historian's cop-out that it's not my period so I'll ask someone better qualified.

using google, it looks like a Lea Francis P-Type to me, however the running boards and front wings are difference from most - maybe pinched off something else?

Earlier than a P type and my guess is a K - here's one of those:

Many thanks, I think K type is correct. I just Googled images and the picture I have copied below looks like quite a good match.

I remember Dad talking about this car but I had never really thought about researching exactly what it was. He owned it in the early 50's when he was in the Royal Engineers, I think it was a sort of officer's mess "pool car" in that someone owned it until they got posted and whereupon it was sold to the next officer and so on. No doubt it got used as something of a officer's passion wagon, my Dad owned it when he met my Mum!

Interesting to see this, back in the late 40's early 50s my father ran a 12/40 P Type as a daily, the engine was a Meadows 4ED. Memories of winter journeys swathed in overcoats and Balaclava to keep out the cold!
