Service just prior to end of lease

28 day B service warning came up today on my E class and the lease ends In 45 days. I’ve been quoted almost £500 for the B service, so I’m considering returning the car without the service, presumably I’d be hit with a bill maybe a standard missed service charge.

Does anyone have experience of the same position and what’s the suggestion, will it be cheaper to have the service done in the first place or wait for a bill.

Its likely the penalty for not having the car serviced when due will be higher than the actual service cost - if it wasn't then why would anyone bother? The alternative is to surrender the lease before the 'service now' light comes on. However I believe the Mercedes costs the full amount outstanding so it may be marginal - VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat etc charge 55% of the remaining payments so is an easier decision.

Read the T & C. I'm pretty sure it will say that you are obliged to service the car to the manufacturer's schedule.

They won't take the car. VWFS and BCA will not take the car if there is a service warning lit during the inspection. Other companies may differ so best to check.

Thanks, I think it’s best to get the service done at the end of the day and not risk rejection or high charges.

So why do they have a standard charge for a missed service in their matrix? When you say 'they wont take the car' - what does that mean? you can just keep it?
