Possibly a random question, however another paint related one so perhaps Paddy can opine.

Hoping to take the Vanquish for a holiday in France later in the summer. Would be for two weeks - any advice or concerns about leaving the paint (lightning silver in this case) in hot sun for a couple of weeks? Can’t guarantee a shaded car park and taking my car cover seems a tad excessive. Heat shield for windscreen/ leather dash and interior is a given.

Welcome thoughts and experiences - thank you!

They test the cars in both extremes of temperature , I really can’t believe you’ve asked the question or even feel the need to.

Ha - thanks and fair enough! Always worth checking though - I'd heard some horror stories of leather dash deterioration in lengthy excessive heat.

I wouldn't worry about it. Regularly spend weeks/months in the south and car is generally out during the day; I just use screen shades/blinds, front and rear but also small ones for the side windows. Have taken one (MB, not Aston), also silver, down for years.

Is there any particular fitting heat shield for the windscreen of a V8 Vantage (i.e. leather dash protection from sunlight) that experienced owners could recommend? My car is currently out there in the blazing sunlight at the main dealer´s waiting for a new windscreen and A/C pipe to arrive ... rolleyes

I’m sure someone will happily sell you a bespoke fitted Aston Martin sunscreen. But I use a £5 one from Amazon and it keeps the sun off my dash. That seems to me to be the key criteria!

Stock up on these before you go. Nothing will destroy paintwork quicker than baked on bird poop. https://www.autoglym.com/bird-dropping-wipes

Before you go give it a coat of good old fashioned carnuba wax. That will protect it, make it look fantastic, plus you’ll have the fun of doing it.

Even if you don’t it will be absolutely fine for two weeks.

The paint isn't a problem, it's the interior..

Window sun reflectors are a 'must' I made a reflective sun cover for our Volante which would get very hot inside. (I actually made it for the 991.2 CAB but it just about fits the Aston) Keeps the internal temps manageable and stops the dust getting into the roof material (LeMans car park).

Like Ian said, you will be fine. The only thing to worry about is the nasty euro bugs and flys you hit when driving. Make sure the car is protected, especially the front end. A sealant is better than a wax for that. And google Gtechniq bug remover (version 2) and get some of that

Do you have a light interior? There have been complaints about bad reflections from the dash onto the windscreen in sunny conditions.

Not a problem I have in the NE of England unfortunately.
