Where do the slightly nicer damaged cars appear for sale?

Facebook/ebay/gumtree is littered with sub 5k damaged cars that basically need a new door/bumper/ding or some other easy diy work, or just ignore and drive a damaged looking car.

What happens with the more valuable damaged cars? Not copart levels of smashed up/burnt/rolled.

Something like 5-15k or so as obviously above that they are worth fixing or are completely done with that type of damage. I never see this sort of value car appear online as damaged despite the cost to fix easily above the value of the car due to dealer part cost/rental cost.

All sent to breakers/bought back off insurance company and fixed?

Been looking at a car which retails for 9-15k and havent seen a single damaged one anywhere. They are usually my prime buy as I dont mind fixing up/ignoring damage. Even struggling to find a really high milage one as a alternative.

I might have to buy a working non shedlike car at this rate

Generally bought up by professional yards and repaired themselves.

Some build up huge stocks for repair, waiting to match opposite damage to give them a whole car and one to break.

Usually pretty thin margins but good work if you can get the space.

I imagine it's a product of them simply being repaired by insurers:- Any that aren't would end up with Copart etc - Though they're usually rather mangled
