I have been doing some work on my car behind the dash, and have noticed that my remote central locking is not working anymore. The car has not been locked for a good few weeks so I'm not sure when it stopped working, but it seems likely it was yesterday when I accidentally shorted two wires which I had momentarily forgotten I had not yet disconnected from the battery curse

It has a meta alarm fitted with the remote boot release button on the key fob.

Symptoms are that the immobiliser works via the plug in key, the fuel pump primes so I expect it would start (not a 14CUX ecu anyway), and the central locking appears to work in that if I press the button on the centre door opening knob the locks operate. I have no response from the key fob for locking/unlocking, and it appears the boot release doesn't work. I can't hear the boot solenoid operating with the boot unlatched. I don't want to latch it for obvious reasons. There is no activity from the alarm LED. The car is unlocked and I can get in to it using door mirror buttons, so electrically everything seems fine except for the remote central locking / alarm which I assume is all driven from the same module.

I've been through all of the fuses and checked them and while I was there replaced them with glow ones so I can see if any are blown in future.

There appears to be power onto the large 30A relay which as I understand it is part of the central locking system.

I have tested the relay which all of the black wires that come from the alarm/immobiliser connect to near the rats nest and it is working. And the 20A fuse alongside it is fine.

I don't really know how the alarm system is organised and could do with some help on investigation. I'm starting to suspect that I've blown the alarm module up but I don't think I've necessarily done enough investigation to warrant that conclusion yet.

Any help is appreciated.

Your problem could well be the Meta alarm unit, this may help:
