Would you run away from it, or put a cheeky offer in? It does look very well cared for.

Wouldn't put me off, bikes are engineered just as well if not better than cars and there's no reason a Honda won't do 100k plus with proper servicing and maintenance. The only reason we don't see more bikes with that kind of mileage is very few people use them for year round commuting or as an only vehicle, when the vast majority of the public only use them on sunny summer weekends suddenly 30k becomes the new 100k.

Well worth spending the difference you saved on a younger model on a suspension refresh and replacing all the fluids, then there's a good chance you might end up with a sweeter handling bike than an example with half the miles.

I'd happily buy it if it was in good nick, I've had a 60k FZ1 and a 45k Triumph Daytona and they were fine.

I've got a 99 hornet 600 with just over 50k miles.
Regular trackdays mixed with commuting and the weekend thrashing.
Absolutely faultless, these were Hondas golden era for well engineered bikes!
Wouldn't hesitate as long as the price is right

It took 100k miles before my GSX-R600's engine gave up the ghost. At 50k most of the original bearings in the wheels and headstock have worn out and been replaced. Electrics become a problem on higher mileage bikes, connector problems due to mosture, wire/loom breaks, switches/sensors wearing out. They are cheap to fix if you take it on yourself, but can take some time.
Just make sure everything mechanically and electrically works, and if it hasn't been down the road and bodged back together, 50k miles is fine.

Apart from wear and tear the cam chain tensioner and the regulator rectifier are weak points, 50k is not a lot, had a vfr with 108k when I sold it
Which year or model?
I have a f4/fx and had a f3 last year, can be made to handle very well

If it was cared for it would be ok. I have 2002 with more than this mileage.
Unless there are really bad hidden problems these hold up just fine, mine has been through rain, snow, salt you name it.

Even with small niggles they run fine.
Mine has the typical cam chain tensioner rattle at ~3000rpm. I have replaced the tensioner with original parts, with reworked originalparts (allegedly stronger spring) and I bought it with APE manual part already in it, none of these last long and the rattle always comes back, so I just gave up and ride with the rattle (comes up around 2500 and goes away just above 3000).

Yes, I did proper suspension refresh with aftermarket parts in the front and adjustable-height Wilbers shock (I also raised the bike front and rear).

I did front one tooth down, rear two teeth up thingy (was 3 teeth up originally, but only aluminium sprockets have that many teeth and I wanted steel so on replacement went with only +2 on the rear) for better pickup.
Mine had braided brake lines from the previous owner already.
Replaced rear light with led light.
Otherwise stock and I like mine to bits, the old comfy barge. :-)

If it's really cheap and has been maintained well, plus doesn't need a grand's worth of brakes/suspension/bearings/exhaust/servicing etc, it could be worth it.

There are shed loads of them out there, so plenty of choice.

50k is no reason not to buy one of these. They're incredibly resilient bikes mechanically.

what year/model is it?

after so many years the suspension would anyway need at least an oil change.

Not if it's been already done recently.

depends how long it took to get to 50 000

if it took ten years plus then its hardly used nd could have stood about for a while, if it did it four years then and it looks good then its well used everyday and looked after a cheeky offer may get you a good bike

why would someone do work on suspension/bearings/brakes/servicing/... and then sell cheap? Why waste time?

Have a look at this YouTube channel, guy buys a brand new CBR600F in 2004 and does 300k miles on it with just regular servicing. Neglect and abuse kills these things, not mileage.

Bad news, missed it.
Good news, found a 2001 zxr400 5 miles from my house for £2750. Its a bit more than my budget but i think im going to go for it.

Because like my 450 they thought they were going to keep it, then they see something they can't resist / circumstances change so it's up for sale.

Fun little bike if it's in good condition and been looked after, but those old 400 sports bike most always had the tits ragged off them and spares can be quite hard to find so go in with eyes open. A good 40bhp down on a fuel injected CBR600F as well, so not the quickest of machines.
