Words fail me. Cops being UTTER dicksticles.
Discussion
I’m generally able to see why “stuff” might happen, as a cop. I generally get why Police officers might stretch the bounds of taste/good sense occasionally (it’s usually a pressure relief type of scenario).
But this... even I can’t see or find any sort of justification for taking selfies with a dead body, let alone sharing/posting them. Yes, sometimes people do take photos like that, but these are police officers who have (allegedly) done this. They should know better and they should conduct themselves to a higher standard (IMHO).
I don’t recognise these people as colleagues and if what they have done is as reported, I sincerely hope the full weight of the law (and any relevant discipline procedure) is brought to bear on those involved. It’s idiots like this who make me ashamed to be a police officer.
Wembley park murders: PCs 'took selfies next to sisters' dead bodies' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-53198...

This kind of supidity is all too prevalent these days where idiocy is a valued commodity to be exploited and traded by tv companies and other media all looking for the next outrageous thing to boost their ratings.
Dont feel ashamed, most rational people can see the difference between decent cops and nobbers like these.

I know. I just cannot get my head round it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not PC Perfect, I’ve made plenty of mistakes during my career. I’ve been rude/sarky to members of the public, sometimes unwarrantedly so, but to me, this is on another level completely.I’d say 99% of my colleagues try their absolute very best, every single day. We don’t always get everything right, but usually, it’s down to cock up, rather than conspiracy. Colleagues are overworked and underfunded (as are most public services). But when I see stuff like this, I’m absolutely lost for words.

Any organisation that has a large number of employees will always have its fair share of numpties.
Police are no different to any other workplace in that respect.
It’s a cognitive dissonance though: Police people are generally trained to spot and deal with numpties. When they then go spectacularly off piste as per the above incident your brain does tend to fizzle.Police are no different to any other workplace in that respect.
How on earth do you go through all the training, join an institution that is about maintaining rules and behaviour and then think ‘this is a grand idea and not at all criminal’.
Odd really.
Then again nothing new under the sun. My great uncle was a member of the flying squad during the 60s and 70s under DCS Drury and ended up ‘resigning’ after Operation Countryman in the late seventies.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on it. I’ve not looked at any news for a couple of days, but seeing this an hour or so ago has just left me shaking my head in disbelief.

I suspect they weren't thinking at all. I assume their career in the police is now over.

Too early to judge but it seems likely. I think the bad apples argument is fair to a point because of the volume of recruits, but the long term solution is better, more rigorous selection processes. The fact is that they hire too many bad apples in the first place. Root them out or re-educate them.

Listen from 41m 27s - it's an interview with the victims' mother on R4's PM programme, and is some very powerful radio.

Leaves me numb actually . One policeofficer doing such a heinous thing is truly shocking but two fills me with despair .
Did they actually think such an act was acceptable .
Mrs Smallman's comment about them being de humanised is sadly correct .
What kind of world are we living in ........

Two morons, I have no idea what though process they went through whilst they considered for a nanosecond this was a good idea. Trouble is for all the great cops, s
t like this sticks to the force as a whole, and used as a stick to beat them with. Losing thier careers should be the least sanction they receive - assuming the reporting is accurate.

I’ve no idea whether or not the officers’ alleged conduct was racist, but it’s certainly shameful.
I’ve just listened to the Radio 4 article. I’m lost for words how any Police Officer could engage in this type of behaviour. To me, it’s totally unacceptable.
I can usually understand most things, but this has left me totally bewildered and I’m actually really upset by it. Obviously, my upset is nothing like that of the victims’ families. I just cannot understand this behaviour. At all.
