Finally, nine years after - the YouTuber video we all waited for. Amazing new content.

I drive a 2005 DB9 but got a chance a few years ago to drive one of these at Millbrook on the Mile Straight. Awesome.

Had a V12VS, just the most wonderful sounding engine especially below 4k rpm...I must agree with his criticism of the gear knob why couldnt they have a simple spherical design in stainless steel...and the new Vantage manual is even worse.

I thought it odd that he twice mentioned not being able to see out very well. Can't say I've noticed it being bad. It is a 2 seater sports after all.
He comments on the Alfa GT that passes. Well I have one of those and that can be difficult to see out of!

This is my car and I love the way you sit in it, and the whole experience of driving it, I took it to and from Dorset yesterday from Bucks (A roads only), just a lovely lovely day.

Generally, I think a fair assessment. I’m not sure why he thinks there are problems with visibility though. I’ve never had any issues in my previous V8 or my current V12. Perhaps he had the seat set too low? On that note, I can’t see him fitting it lightweights, as he looks like a big lad! Fair comment on the gear knob. But I’ve always thought that was one of the cars idiosyncratic quirks. Overall, an enjoyable watch, although one for the older members here........is it me, or does he sound a bit like Alan Whicker!?

Stay safe everyone

Best Regards

That is a good watch and as with many of his videos they are pretty well informed.
I think he gets this one pretty good too so much so that I only feel obliged to defend the AM gearknob. laugh
In my opinion it looks bespoke, quality (esp compared to the new offering) and feels good in use.
His comments on the handling characteristic differences between the V8 and V12 are about right although neither are top drawer just call it B and B-. They are good handling fun to drive cars with the increased engine torque of the V12 being easily the most noticeable thing when you get behind the wheel.
His XJ220 video is pretty damned good too.

I think the gearknob is superb and very unique. It one of the features i love along with those glorious Carbon bonnet vents.

More balanced than I'd expected in terms of whether v8 or v12 is preferred.

He's getting better in terms of presentation style (and length) is jayemm. Probably my favourite car youtuber now. The others from the british crop all seem to be cocks one way or another. This fellow comes across as a genuine enthusiast who wasn't born holding a silver spoon.

I have to disagree here, Harry Metcalfe from Harry's Garage and Iain Tyrell from Tyrrell's Classic Workshop are la crème de la crème.

Henry Catchpole at Carfection is my favourite. He’s a bit of a posh lad but his videos always seem to be well filmed, well presented and well judged. And he seems to like Aston Martins too!

V12V is pretty much a dream car for me so it's slightly dissappointing to learn that the ride is as hard as a GT3.

Any owners care to comment on that?

I know nothing of GT3 suspension but I think the V12 is not chalk and cheese to my 07 V8 and very similar to my more recent V8 S.
I think the shocks are Bilstein units on the V12 and newer cars and it is often commented on a generally better ride.
It's doesn't feel anywhere near track car firm and is easily usable as a GT cruiser/daily driver regarding this aspect.
It's a pretty comfortable car with tyre noise being the only minor irritation.

True. He's a more TV style chap.

Not heard of the other two mentioned above.

Had more in mind the hyper irritating rich kid shmee, the posh no ability STG, and the reckless donkey LLF.

Yes, the original V12V (manual) ride is pretty firm. I would agree it is in the same league as the GT3 for firmness.

The ride on the S (SS3 and manual) is noticeably better with the adjustable damping.

^^ Oh yes. JayEmm is getting better as stated, but he has a long way to go. I wish he would learn that stream of consciousness is not a recipe for holding the viewer's interest. There is an art to getting one's point across with a minimum of verbiage.

The original V12 is firm. Not uncomfortable, but firm. Its a car you need to drive carefully. The suspension plus wide wheels on pot holed British roads is a recipe for a big accident if you’re not careful - but it’s beautiful and very rewarding. The newer V12S is more squat and go - you can floor it in low gears and it takes off, but you’ll struggle with that in the V12. Don’t let it put you off - it’s magical and pure. The 6spd box is also a delight versus the 7 speed that takes more effort.

Chris.
