48 in a 30 - chance of awareness course?

Really? Like what, a ban?? I did some quick googling and saw that next step is a “summons” but naively I’m not entirely sure what that is!

50mph would have been too fast for a fixed penalty and would have likely seen the matter proceeded before the magistrate(s)

On conviction, an earnings related fine of up to £1,000, court costs and victim surcharge plus 4-6 points or a short ban.

No, cops with a speed gun. Hidden by all the cars in the lane nearest them. Which makes it even more annoying because I really should have seen them.
They waved me in, showed me the gun etc

For me it was £50 on the policy compared to not having any points, make sure you know the wording of your policy in relation to when to inform them and have the offence code e.g. SP30 to hand.

Wait and see. I got caught doing 92 in a 70 and was pulled over by traffic, shown the gun etc etc.

I was told I was being put forward to a summons.

I was crapping it for 6 months as they have 6 months to summon you, I heard nothing.

Speaking to a friend who’s in legal: he said 9/10 times they won’t process it.

Just wait and see. Can’t change it now fella!

UTH: I wouldn't get your hopes up about being let off, and nothing coming from your stop - Driving at 48mph in a 30mph limit is far less likely to be overlooked by the Police than driving at 92mph on a motorway, because it's deemed to be a much higher risk to other road users/pedestrians.

In R1Riders case, he was apparently told he was going to be summonsed to court for doing 92mph in a 70mph limit on the M25 (noted by him in another thread). That makes little sense because the standard prosecution for driving at up to 94mph in a 70mph limit (for a road car), should be a FPN (£100 & 3 points) - 95mph+ is the speed where a court summons starts.

My suspicion is, the Police Officer had no intention of prosecuting R1Riders, and so fed him a load of bullst about being summonsed to court, to slow him down for a while.
