Bowness-Windermere Fine Dining/ Special Occasion
Discussion
The mrs and I are off for a trip to the lakes which was booked last year - it is looking likely that we will be able to now go as lock down eases.
I am looking for a special/ memorable restaurant as it has been a difficult year for us.
I had tried to book ‘Henrock’ however they have not opened their books until the end of July, our trip Is pending WC 6th.
Do you have any recommendations for a fine dining OR memorable/ fun restaurant?
We are non fussy eaters who devour most dishes and appreciate our food!
Thank you!

We thought it was special without being ‘stuffy’.

L’enclume is very much southern Lakes (45 mins from Bowness), personally I found the service a little pretentious.
Stamp House good albeit in a bit of a basement, Samling good too as mentioned. For me though the Drunken Duck wins: it’s just a pub but it’s great.
It's 13 miles and about 25 minutes or half an hour on a busy day, I travel back and forth most days Stamp House good albeit in a bit of a basement, Samling good too as mentioned. For me though the Drunken Duck wins: it’s just a pub but it’s great.

You won't go far wrong with Porto if you want to be in Bowness itself, there are loads of other great restaurants in and around the village.

That’s where I would recommend too. Fantastic food which was also imaginative. The Wild Boar is also good, although the rooms are very hit and miss depending on which part of the building you get.

Been up there today getting our place ready for our 1st visitors this year at the weekend.
The place is still very quiet.

It soon won't be I can guarantee you that, I am in the hotel trade and our bookings have gone through the roof, we have 70 bedrooms and 50 of them are sold for Sat 4th, the weekend after we are full, we are taking on average 300 reservations a day, its going to be chaos The place is still very quiet.

Was going to suggest Holbeck Ghyll ( as seen in the first series of "The Trip" as was L'enclume as I recall) . We had a very special dining experience there, However, I see from the website that the restaurant and bar aren't opening up yet. Room service is available but really not the same at all..
I really can't wait until things get properly back to normal !! Sod this "New Normal"
