I hate our motorways.
Discussion
Hello folks, just back from Le Mans, the usual enjoyable motoring in France, the usual absolute hell on returning to the UK.
I reckon every member of the 'Lane 3 owners club' and the 'Middle lane morons club' had combined forces this afternoon for a trip out on the M1.
I am afraid I lost it, the red mist descended and I did a rather prodigious amount of undertaking, the initial catalyst for this was the driver of a silver Vectra who had initially started to move over when he spotted me in his mirror, but then changed his mind and indulged in a bit of deliberate obstruction instead.
A tenner to all those who had decent lane control will be in the post (cost to me, sweet FA). For those innocent motorists who got caught up in the mele this afternoon, sorry! And as for the selfish gits who cause the problem in the 1st place, they should be put up against a wall and shot!
Apologies to Minimax, who was passenger. I am feeling remorsefull now, two wrongs do not make a right.

There was a Government "initiative"
some months ago to encourage drivers to move over to the left.
I agree with previous comments. If anything, the problem is getting worse. The UK has the most selfish drivers of any I've encountered throughout Europe.

Every now and again they have "keep left" on some of the electronic signs on the M1.
Surprisingly I have noticed a difference on my monday morning passage from London to Nottingham. Some of the numpties actually read them and there is some (albeit limited) attempt at reasonable lane discipline from some drivers.
Don't get me started

It's simple to make good progress on European roads and their lane discipline is fantastic. It rubs off too, as most Brits observe the same lane discipline when in France.
So WHY CHANGE TO CRAP DRIVING as soon as the ferry doors swing open back home in Blighty ???!!! Drives me bloomin' potty.
Ended up doing exactly the some thing undertaking on the M25/M4. Stupid I know and also regretted afterwards. At one point when on a 4-lane-wide section of the M25, lane 1 was completely empty for as far as the eye can see, so I decided to classify it as 'my personal lane'.
PS: Saw your car in Houx by the cafe. Nicely stickered up to explain the dents!

Yep, know the feeling BG. Murph had to put up with a bit of a rant from me before we even got out the ferry port.
Hmm I managed to get out of the port before losing it, was still in Dover though! That the offending car was a VAG group diesel came as no real surprise. Given that he'd been on the ferry too and at Le Mans by the looks of his car, I did wonder if he'd been driving perfectly reasonably a couple of hours before and whether getting back to driving on the left automatically meant reverting to type.

And what a good rant it was, the best comment came after a 5th set of expletives and I quote... "I don't get road rage!!!" Yeah right.. thanks for the entertainment Andy
...so what about the stupid t
ts who flash you after you've overtaken, cos you don't want to do 30 in a 40... or the nobs who gesture at you when you flash them to move over, then continue to just sit there?
ARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
IMO these people are more dangerous than speeders as they enrage people and make them take risks - should be a 3 pointer.
