Quick question Tuono 2008
Discussion
Hi all
Have seen a lovely showroom condition Aprilia Tuono 1000 R Factory 2008, only (10,000) kilometers. The guy keeps it in his front room.
Good bike ? Bad bike ? Is there anything special I should look for. Have never rode one before, but always admired them.
So yes, any advice really.
Thanks Jak...

Yep I probaby will. It just looks to good. Just want to find out first if there is anythink dodgy I should look for on this model
If it's the gen 2 V twin it's got the Rotax motor. These are pretty bomb proof and good for about 130 bhp.If it's been well stored there shouldn't be any issues but look out for dry seals or such.
Can you post any pics?
I'm not quite sure on this model but it's not uncommon across aprilias that if the battery is weak, it can f
k the starter. Budget for a new (beefy) battery. I think there are also some kits with upgraded leads as well.
Mostly their main issue is they encourage major hoonage. Get it bought!
The often recommended best place for aprilia information, servicing, parts etc etc etc is: https://www.apworkshops.co.uk/

Thanks for all your quick answers. I have however decided against this one, the guy is asking to much for it. He needs to knock a thousand off the price.
I am still going to get one though. It seems after checking I need engine number 8176929 or higher to be sure I havent got the bad stator.
Hear is a link to the bike

I’ve had mine 4 and a half years now, I have a problem with changing cars and bikes quickly, the longest I’ve ever kept a car was a year and the same for bikes other than this and my track bike, that kinda sums it up really for me...
It’s a good road bike, still feels quick, loads of grunt, built very well aside from the electrical issues you hear of. Only thing that’s gone wrong with mine was speed sensor went when I first got it, otherwise been faultless. Mine is a late one with the 370w stator. Make sure lower shock linkage has been looked after and probably budget to replace it anyway.

Be aware the fork bottoms are known to crack by the pinch bolts if even slightly over torqued on these, even known to crack at the torque value if lube/anti seize is used.
Check them very carefully on any bike you intend to buy as it's a £600ish job to get them both replaced!
Electrical gremlins as already mentioned.
The rear linkages also need regular maintenance and have been known to snap, aftermarket updated plates are available.
The plastic tanks swell also, and stickers bubble underneath on the tanks.
It was alao widespread they had issues with odometers resetting so be cautious on what mileage is true
Basically the usual quality lapses.
