Mortgage with Partner in London

Hi guys,

Following travelling getting cut short due to cover and me and my partner able to get new jobs in London we've decided to look at buying our first place together.

We currently have a joint income of circa £80k and access to a sizeable deposit.

What's the best way to do this?

Speak to a mortgage advisor first and then look, or find property and use the agents own service?

We're currently looking in South London, around the Thornton Heath area.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Speak to a mortgage advisor, an Independent one, I used L&C and found them great start to finish

Then find the house to suit the budget, make a list of wants and needs

Getting a new job could mean you need 6 months pay slips but some accept just your contract

Sarnie is brilliant, only thing i'd say is to avoid Thornton Heath like the plague - its an absolute dive.

I'm in Beckenham which is great, even the roads around Lloyd park toward East Croydon are ok as are places like Penge/Sydenham, not too far of ££ wise but far, far nicer areas

As I said in other thread The Heath is not a place I would chose to move to.
Theft, robberies, scum Ines and general disdain whenever I go back. Nearly all friends from my school there (Winterbourne Road) have moved out...

Worth looking at S Croydon (birdhurst Rise) is where I had a place.
