Bmw carbon 7 helmet
Discussion
I must be getting old. Although still on sportsbikes I'm starting to think about flip face helmets.
Anyone got a bmw carbon7? Difficult to find out much about them. I quite like the look, but everything else is more important than that, so what are they like?
Historically I've gone for Shoei or Shark. Arai dont suit my bonce.

I used to work for BMW aftersales. What do you want to know in particular?
I personally could never get one to fit comfortably, but 4 other members of staff used to wear them. Including two techs who were in and out of them all day.
Thanks. I'll soon trek out to try one on, since we all know that stuff really either fits or just doesn't. I'm just keen to hear from someone who has lived with one for a while. I dont want to waste mine or dealers time if noone has a good word.I personally could never get one to fit comfortably, but 4 other members of staff used to wear them. I.e. what's the view on: product quality, shape, quietness, the flip mech? Did the techs comment positively/negatively, or just nothing of note?
I think helmets are such an emotive thing. It lives with you so intimately, good weather, bad weather, great days, crap days. Noone wants one they secretly resent

Cheers.
I can't comment on the Carbon 7 but I have had many BMW flip fronts since the original "golf ball" System 1.
I tried other flip fronts (Shoei - good, Laser - crap) but returned to BMW.
They were originally manufactured by Schuberth to a BMW design and were quality kit. I think it was the System 6 where manufacturing moved away from Schuberth to somewhere in Italy. I had one of those helmets and the quality was crap. The inner sun visor broke within about 4 weeks. I bought a C3 to replace it and am now on my 3rd Schuberth.

Thanks. Seems that maybe i should try Shoei again rather than the bmw7th gen then.I tried other flip fronts (Shoei - good, Laser - crap) but returned to BMW.

I also used to work for BMW and have a System 7.
I found it to be a really good helmet. The only downfall of the one I currently I have is that when riding in heavy rain, some droplets of water will run down the inside of the visor. I have a feeling it's to do with the seal where the flip up section of the helmet is, but it hasn't really bothered me. The internal sun visor is a nice touch.
I also had the Bluetooth communications kit fitted to mine and whenever I was on a call whilst riding, the people I spoke with never knew I was out on the bike, they mentioned the sound quality was really clear.

The later ones have an extra clip in the chin bar which latches on to the visor pulling it closed tighter, rather than just using the ratchet system. A lot of people would comment on how quiet they are.
BMW shops do offer demo helmets sometimes. Might be worth an ask of you local shop.

I'm very tempted to swap my C3 for an E1...
