G30 Map Update

I have downloaded the 2020-2 map update and loaded it onto a USB memory stick ready to go in the car.

Does the ignition need to be on and stay on for the 30-40 minutes necessary for the transfer? Will it stay on without the engine running, or doe the engine need to be running the whole time?
