Dusty Garage Floor - Affect paintwork?
Discussion
I have a lot of very very fine dust on my garage floor which keeps reappearing even after I've brushed, which I believe is probably from the concrete breaking down. As its so fine, just driving into the garage or walking through it is enough to send the dust particles in the air and onto the car.
I'll get round to getting it fixed eventually, but in the meantime I was wondering, does this dust damage car paintwork?
Cheers

I have the same problem and hope to fix this permanently in the next few weeks.
I doubt the fine particles will damage the paintwork on their own - unless you then wipe the car over with a mitt/cloth with no lubrication. I imagine a spary with a quick detailer spray then a wipe over may get rid of it?
Sorry it's not a great answer. I do feel your pain with this.

I would just seal it using a cement sealent. I used PVA glue (I had a spare bottle) on mine to seal before painting over.
The dust will cause damage if you run your hands over the paintwork. Railway dust causes an issue I understand and is one of the reasons to use a clay bar. I would wash it well with a hose pipe/snow foam prior to using your wash mitt. I wouldn't use a detailing spray on it myself, best to use a contactless wash method.
If you have a gap down the side of your garage door that may be the issue. I still had dust after painting the floor, I then sealed the door with a brush door insulation strip - all good now. Only £7 from ebay.

Definitely avoid any kind of contact until you’ve completely hosed the car down. Cement dust will cause some nasty swirls over time. Also don’t consider using a car cover to keep the dust off, unless the car’s been cleaned beforehand. The cover would otherwise scrape the dust particles against your clear coat. Cement dust is really nasty stuff.
