Extended Warranty - when can I get a quote?

Our Golf GTE is coming up to 3 years old in November, and given the complexities of the car, I'm considering extending the warranty. When I log onto the VW site, it won't give me a quote, and instead just says "Your vehicle is still covered by your Warranty". Which of course is true! At what stage will the system quote me? Only when the old warranty has expired?

Go to Autotrader and look for the same car with older reg. Use if for a quote.
That worked. I picked a August 2017 car & it let me get a quote - so a month before manufacturer warranty expiry, which is great. Pricing is lower than expected too.Thanks for the tip.
