2012 Astra A/C noise
Discussion
As title, just had a new condenser fitted and system regassed so now nice and chilly A/C!
Problem now is a (for want of a better term) knocking sound when the A/C is swithced on, the sound increases slightly with engine revs and when you switch off the engine it sounds like a fan is over running slightly before stopping, this noise can only be heard from inside the cabin.I thought at first it was the compresser but no noise at all from engine bay. Is there a secondry fan inside the dash somewhere for the A/C as to me this is what it sounds like, the normal blower fan with no A/C on makes no noise so am baffled, I will get a video tomorrow evening after work and see if I can upload it.
Help!

No.What you describe can pretty much only be the compressor as that is all that is engaged when the ac is on as opposed to off.
The only other option could be the cooling fan at the radiator as this will come in if the ac condenser requires cooling, but this would be off/on on demand unless there is a fault with the temperature switch & if that were the case the fan behind the rad would be on 100% when the ac is on.
Is it?

With the front grill off giving access to the fan I can spin it up by hand but it runs freely and when it is running with the a/c on there is no untoward noise from it,I can only hear the noise when I am sat in the cabin
