I am finally going to install a VPN on my Mac but am at a loss to the best provider or package and would welcome advice and suggestions.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Nord vpn has been the best I've used to date. Pricy but worth it!

Another vote for NordVPN on macs. Works well. Keep an eye out for their regular offers, something like $80 for 3 years.

Used Express VPN on my Mac, iPhone and iPad for years, not free but good and support is good if required

Another vote for Express VPN. I changed from Buffered a few months ago, after Buffered was purchased by another provider who promptly dropped support for DD-WRT.

I run router-level VPN for the whole house, then have Express VPN client installed on my MacBook for working away from home (not that this is happening much at the moment).

Nord is also supposed to be excellent.

Happy with Nord vpn across Mac/iPad & Android. They are always doing deals of 70% off over 3 years etc. I got one of these a while ago.

I’ve used PIA vpn for a while. Slightly pricey maybe, but never have any problems with it across a variety of devices, and seems plenty fast.

I’m far from the tin foil hatter that I maybe used to be. But there’s still something that rankles with me about my ISP and ergo the govt via the IP bill mandated storage being able to see all my internet usage on demand. With a VPN they simply see me connected to another server. It’s not a panacea, but it helps.

Silly? Maybe. But for the sake of the remnants of my privacy principles, I’m willing to spend £40 a year on it.

Oh I'm sure they have their uses and I use one myself for some things.

Their terms of services are quite interesting.

Maybe I'm just a bit cynical on the whole "we don't log anything you do but here's a bunch of things where if find out you do them we can terminate your service".

Those two stances always feel a bit contradictory to me.

Like I said they have their uses I just think too many people see a NordVPN advert on the TV and think it gives them more security than it does if they don't change a bunch of other possible bad habits.

The number of people believing that a VPN makes their browsing more private is really worrying.

All you are doing is willingly directing all your traffic via a private company that is totally unregulated that you know little about. VPN providers are spread all over the world.

These providers state they don't log. There's little evidence of that though.

My conspiracy theory would be that many of these VPN providers are owned by security agencies as a very easy way to gather data.

This isn't to say using a VPN is bad, but it's definitely one to be wary about.
