So, alas the Giulia has left stage left and in comes (in silence) the Tesla 3. Mainly driven by the huge cost savings for company car task I’ve taken the jump across to the world of electric.

Initial impressions are good. The build quality (much maligned online) appears fine and the general fit of the car looks pretty good too. It’s no looker in my eyes however in performance trim and with the red paint I think it looks okay.

Day to day it’s easy enough to live with. Charging is easy and driving even more so. The acceleration can only be described as The Hulk ride at Universal Florida and whilst it’s impressive it still misses the whole drama and entertainment (and noise) of the 4C despite it being quicker.

So, a few pics.

I'd like to say it looks good, but for me, like you the jury is still out on its aesthetics, even thought I have one on order to replace my current company car, looks aside the reduction in BIK cannot be overlooked.

Albeit my one will be in LR+ trim not the full fat performance version, although having had a test drive the performance of the LR+ is more than adequate for daily duties, I was also pleasantly surprised by the interior quality, ride comfort and general handling after all I had read online.

I'll be keeping an eye on your experience in the coming months to see if it mirrors mine.

For me, the biggest draw back to a Model 3 is the completely uninspiring cockpit. I don't like having to do everything on a touchscreen in a vehicle (indeed I believe it to be a massive step backwards in usability due to the lack of tactile feedback, and can in some instances be downright dangerous to try and use), and voice control is still quite some way from being usable in all situations without becoming tiresome.

I actually find the exterior to be "ok", it's nothing special but it's not terrible either, but the lack of a more contemporary interior is a complete turn-off.

Shame really as I'd love the rest of the car I'm sure, plus an electric vehicle would more than meet my day-to-day car use (after lockdown).

I agree on both points re looks and internal layout. The one thing I didn’t mention is the handling which is impressive especially in performance trim.

You do feel the weight but as it’s positioned so low down in the car it rarely interferes with the transition of the car through corners. That’s said it’s not as sharp as my previous Giulia but one thing you do notice is the pathetic seats. Twice I’ve nearly slid into the passenger seat when going around a roundabout hehe

That 4C is lovely, how have you found it? I assume you’ve kept it too? I quite fancy one.

only reason i didn't get one as my latest company car is the lack of hatch as i dont like putting the dog on the back seats

no brainer if you have a decent company car scheme

Sadly it left today..... 2 year lease which I’ve loved every minute of. So much so I’m on the look out for a full time replacement to buy.

So 500 miles in....

Loving the car and looking forward to a decent jaunt to Cornwall this weekend. The car feels pretty well put together and I have to say the ride is excellent.

Performance is bizarre in all honesty. Think the start of the Hulk ride in Universal studios rather than super car delivery which I guess is the nature of the drivetrain.

The chrome had to go however and the rear windows and back screen will be lightly tinted soon too.

One mention to the boot. 5 suitcases in no problem. Not since my Octavia vRS estate has a car swallowed so much kit. This also includes the cabin where the loss of a prop shaft means a ‘flat’ floor in the back too. Very impressed and that’s without taking space in the ‘frunk’ too.

One of my mates has had one of these (in performance guise too) since late last year. He LOVES it. He's a proper tech head, so the tech is one of the best bits. Bloody hell it's fast. We call it the milk float in jest, but yeah. It's like a rollercoaster. He's taking his to france, and has done 160 miles to a full charge getting to the chunnel. hehe

If I were buying I'd have a Long Range model. Plenty fast enough for me, but smaller wheels and better range. If it was a company car, Performance all the way!
