We're considering setting up a new separate forum for Tesla to live outside of this one. Would that be helpful for dedicated Tesla threads or would you rather we left it be?

This would get my vote.

If we have a tesla forum i can ask questions such as ' why is this waterproof bit made of cardboard?' without having to hikack the few tesla threads

It would allow discussion of other brands in EV section, without so much tesla talk on every-single-thread..

Tesla don't have a section is pretty nuts, given how many sub sections niche marques are afforded.

Pistonheads changed it's name from petrolheads, is that right?

Oh yes please please do this. Get all the fanboys in one place so they can stop turning every thread here into a Tesla circle-jerk.

Surely the EV thread becomes a sub section, there you have tesla/kia/vw/audi/polestar/bmw etc.

+1 for a sub section. Maybe split the hybrids from the pure EVs?

That's possible, although we already have other forums for all of the other OEMs. So what you're suggesting is we should have forums that are specific to the electric vehicles offered by any OEM?

That would make most sense as they're basically 'new products'. makes it clear where you go for each leg.

There are only 3 Tesla threads on the first page of “EV and alternative fuels” plus this one - it’s hardly over run with them, And the Tesla fanboys will just post on every other EV thread anyway telling the OP to buy a Tesla.

Don’t see the need myself

Except it won't though. He'll be camping in it 24/7 posting inane jibes at perfectly reasonable posts.

because if we've tesla specific chat it either goes in the model 3 owners thread or on another platform

I generally dont discuss actual tesla related tesla stuff to tesla owners on here because its a stshow.

I'm not sure I really see the point. Marque specific forums are for marque specific issues/content and there seems to be very few threads of that nature for Tesla. If we're going to have an "alternative fuels" forum covering BEVs at all, Teslas are inevitably going to be part of the general discussion.

As much as I don't particularly like Tesla as a company or any of their cars, they still have their place in any discussion about EVs.

I've voted do it but doubt it will stop the Tesla evangelists infecting every other thread.

Check out the Q4 thread first reply. It offers nothing and is becomes tiresome.

model 3 owner thread has about 5000 posts? Everything goes in there. There would be a ton more specific questions if there was a section, I'd wager.

Long time lurker, registered a few weeks ago.

As you say the problem is a common one.

If there would be, then a forum makes sense. But it's not going to have the effect some people seem to be hoping for to remove discussion of Teslas from non-marque specific EV threads and nor do I think it would be a good thing if it did.

Exactly. You can't expect threads on general EV topics or direct competitors not to include Tesla posts. I think people just need to get a grip TBH.

It'd be like banning content about Porsches from GG. smile
