CUPRA just announced the CUPRA el-Born, previously SEAT had shown this car off at a few events but it will now only be a CUPRA car.

Related to the ID.3

There’s an article on this car on Autocar website. Not much in the way of details, but rear-engined and presumably rear wheel drive. Also the battery pack is apparently 77kWh (82kWh gross?) which seems pretty decent for a car of that size. Think i read it’s due to have 320 mile range? Even if real range is only 75% of that, 240 miles isn’t too bad at all.

Same MEB platform, drivetrain and battery pack as the ID4 and Q4

They all get different ranges I assume form aero differences..? 279-320 miles

Range also seems to be less than a regular ID3. Hope this is not just down to fatter tyres, but also related to SEAT opening the taps on that battery a bit. Weird thought really, VAG could soon be launching an eco friendly and practical> 260 PS RWD hatch smile.

Would prefer smaller wheels and less ride-height. The copper accents are optional hopefully. Other than that, pretty decent looking thing methinks. One to watch.

Copper is CUPRA's thing so afraid the copper wont be optional, I think the slightly less range will be the opening of the taps.

I've always owned Cupra's (apart from now got a Leon FR TDI daily and a Porsche) this might tempt me back into a CUPRA and into a first EV as well.

These days majority of my driving is 12 miles a day in MK or to my mums which is 130 miles away, apart from that there was a 3,000 mile trip to Maranello and back, in all honesty wouldn't want to do that in an EV.

It'll be interesting to see where the price it compared to the ID3 with the same battery and motor setup (I think the stats match the longest range ID3?). Now "Cupra" is a standalone brand, does it still sit below VW in the VAG heirachy or will they place it above the ID3 on the basis that it's "sportier"?

Do we have a price for the ID3?

Not in the UK. I've a vague feeling they've set prices for the German market, at least.

I'd have guessed closer to £40k for the longest range model, but I could be completely wrong.

Prices for the German ID3 "1st edition" Medium sized battery, but pretty well equipped. This is before subsidies, consumers pay 9.5k less. So list prices may be a bit inflated compared to other markets. But also think the big battery ID3 is going to be closer to 40k than 30.

Really going to be interesting to see if they a) give the Cupra a significant power boost (and ideally a bit of leeway in the ESP) and b) where they will price it.
