I recently bought a 2012 991 carrera s and so far i'm very pleased with everything about it.

However, last night when i went out in the rain and turned the heat up but all i got was cold air. i tried turning aircon off so just heat and also recirc but i still couldn't get any heat into the car. i've had a look today again and the fans/demister are working ok, just can't get any heat from it.

After a google search it seems it may be a changeover valve that will need replacing. the car's going into and OPC at the end of the month for a heat shield recall and i have asked them to have a look at it.

I have a Lancaster warranty on the car and the OPC say that the warranty will not cover the diagnostic checks and any stripping down to find the fault, plus possibly all the labour cost won't be met.

Has anyone else suffered from the same valve failure and as 1 valve has failed am i likely to have problems with the other 7 valves on the car?

thanks

How recently did you buy the car? If within last 3 months the dealer has to prove the issue was not present at the time of sale to avoid the cost of repair.

You say Lancaster warranty ... so was it bought from a Lancaster owned OPC (colchester, cambridge, east London) or another manufacturer’s franchise in the Lancaster group?

This is not unusual on early 991 cars.
My 2014 991S had both the valve and fan replaced
early on in my ownership. The car went in and out
of OPC’s since the issue was intermittent initially
and usually worked OK when the technician checked it!

I bought the car privately. The Lancaster warranty was transferred by the previous owner, so no goodwill measure from OPC

Then perhaps have an indie do the diagnosis (and the fix too). One with a PIWIS tester so as to potentially identify what is at fault.

Check the warranty terms as it may still pay parts regardless of which VAT registered garage does the job.

I had a valve go on my 991.1 and it was replaced under warranty.
