Poor little boy and just how did he get back in the boat alone?

very very sad storybut it got me to thinking who hires a boat and takes out a 4 year old into the middle of a lake for a swim ?
normally a single adult with young child would stay close to the shore line and shallow waters ?
perhaps I have missed some of the detail of the incident....

They mention underwater currents in the BBC article so she may have just seen a placid lake and thought it was safe to swim in. A lesson for us all to make sure we take care in open water swimming, whether that be the sea or lakes.

Think the consensus is the boat wasn't anchored and started drifting, and she managed enough strength to get her son aboard again but couldn't manage to her herself back up and sadly drowned. A very sad story no matter how it played out, no 4yr old should have to go through that trauma. Poor little boy and just how did he get back in the boat alone?
