Had the 500 repainted last September. The usual fading issue with Rosso Pearl and slight mismatch in colour from a small repair before my time and some scuffing inside the doors.

First of all, hats off to Surface and Design who did the paintwork... first class. Been in storage for the last 8 months and not seen the light of day while the paint fully cured ready to apply some self-healing PPF. So, the car is now Nightfire Red (Surface and Design couldn't source Rosso and Nightfire is a fairly close match that I really like).

Posting a pic for any of you guys considering the same... (btw, anyone know the original paint colour code for the wheels?)

You're surely not going to apply it yourself?

Don't do it. It makes the car look dull, it goes yellow, it's hard to remove without ruining your old fashioned paint colour. My mother had that colour, on a Maestro in the 1980s!

Titan looks an interesting proposition. At 2 microns it's not going to protect the paint from stone chips and we all know how prone these cars are to stones.

I've had a product called Premiumshield applied. It has various layers including a hydrophobic topcoat, which does the job of a ceramic coat. Should last 5-10 years and can be replaced if necessary.

You can literally run a wire brush across it and scratches will self heal under heat; hot water/sunshine. The picture shows the car completely wrapped in the film.

Rather than dulling the paintwork, it has given it a deep glossy lustre. Can't wait to get it outside in the sunlight

Looks great, and a lovely colour. I have noticed a number of modern cars that sort of colour in recent years, and have vowed to have a car that colour one day. A friend has her Discovery Sport in a similar colour and it looks like real quality.
Not knowing the correct name, I have always though of it as "glowing dark red".

One question - is the Premiumshield actually a vinyl wrap, or is it sprayed on?

It's not a vinyl wrap nor is it sprayed on. It's a clear protective multiple layer film, installed by a specialist. The car was re-sprayed in the normal way and the PPF applied to a perfect surface. Probably wouldn't get the same results on old paintwork but anyone having a front end respray might want to consider it?

Stored in the memory bank for when I have my car resprayed. Thanks.

Looks stunning OP, but then I'm biased cos my Cerb is Nightfire too. That protective film seems to increase the lustre.
There are current Mazdas with a similar type of red which really 'pops' in sunlight.
