This seems relatively well priced at 64k.

No affiliation with the owner but it looked like a very well built car with a recent refresh for good money.

eta - turns out theres a few on Race cars direct. I should not spend time on that site as it is dangerous.

These cups have always interested me, £65k has been the magic number for a 997 gen1 cup for years. There’s always a handful for sale on race cars direct. Very occasionally very unused ones pop up for sale across Europe.

Apparently they can be very expensive to run due, I believe the gearbox needs regular rebuilds if used as intended.

From time to time you also see these converted into rally cars.

I’ve always thought they look a lot of car for the money considering they are factory built.

That's the thing with the 997, the gearbox costs. A 996 is conceivably not unlike a very focussed 996rs road car where as the 997 is a much different prospect, mainly down to the box.

Most would probably find a standard 997 GT3 road car more habitable I think!

Something like that must be so intimidating to drive....I imagine a whole different skill level required to get anywhere near pushing that cars performance envelope.

I thought a out getting one for track days (in the end went 430 Challenge)
There was a road registered one in Germany, but don’t think that works well if you hit traffic or have to turn into streets with the likely rather challenging turning circle

Stick some Indicators, Cup 2's, maybe a manual box, and more road oriented seats in it, and off you go...

Would love to give it a go..and would make a great track-day car.

have you been in one ?

I have and would hate to track it for fun, seems pointless and so so noisy it's quite a shock.
you are not road driving a car on those lbs spring rates either.

Depends what you want/intended purpose. I'd bloody love to track that for nothing other than the experience!

Haven't been in one but used to do a bit of rallying so quite aware of how noisy competiton cars can be - a lot of which comes from the straight-cut gears.

So - Stick some Indicators, Cup 2's, maybe a manual box, and more road oriented seats in it, change the springs, and buy some Peltors, and off you go...

A bit tongue in cheek really, but I'm sure you could end up with something really focused with all the right hardware more cost effectively going this way, than working the other way from a road car.

Other than that it would make a really really cool (if expensive) garage ornament - just look at it!

yep fun to have a go but I think I would hate it after 20 laps and want to give it back. :-) it not the gears, its the noise of every thing, you need ear plugs etc.

What sort of costs are we talking about r.e. rebuilding the box and engine?

It would be an interesting comparison to pedal a regular GT3 RS followed by the CUP on the same circuit.

I don’t think it is that much if you don’t break it / keep on top of it (I can’t remember the actual figures though from when I looked into it). There are a lot of other parts on the car though that have the same or shorter lifecycles I think, so overall still a costly proposition.

I just ordered a set of slicks and new brake discs, plus a few other things / checking the car etc on the 430 - bill will be in the 13k region. When I bought the stuff to be able to lift it myself and change wheels, that was another 9-10k from memory. Trailer cost 26k plus tow car. Still haven’t driven the car - lets hope I like it given most of the above is sunk costs ....

Edit: obviously if I was not as useless as I am and could do some simple jobs on the car myself, then I would save a lot of expensive work hours .... as it stands today, I can’t so got to pay for it
