Recommend me a car
Discussion
I'm after a few car suggestions from the wise out there.
The situation not so long ago was that the family fleet had a E91 330d for family duties, and an i3 for the town run about which worked pretty well.
The i3 lease ended (don't worry, I'm a powerfully built director type so it was a business lease), so in searching around we decided to go for a Tesla Model 3 long range, as this could have a tow hitch for the bikes and pretty much cover all requirements for clan 'Lima. Thinking we'd have a cross over time to see if this panned out was all good and well...
...Except my 330d was rear-ended on the M25 and killed. As the in laws were due over from NZ I picked up a Seat Alhambra for 7 seater, diesel glory thinking that'd do us for the summer.
Since then, all plans have been scuppered so the in laws aren't heading over and it'll be a few years before they do again (if they do)... So, I'm really not keen on the Alhambra (aka the bus) being "my" car.
So, I'd like to swap it for something more interesting than a grey bus - anything more interesting!!
I'd like petrol as I do not do massive miles and then have a chance of something a bit more fun... Probably a max of £25k to spend but the further under this the better, and avoiding savage depreciation would be a bonus!
I've considered as a family wagon:
Also, really not keen on the whole SUV thing - I did think Porsche Macan but not sure if I can be that fashionable!?
What else could I consider? Something that's a bit interesting, I used to be a big JDM fan but there's not that much that's interesting from there at the moment, right?
I feel this is going to go waaaay off piste but you never know!

I've considered as a family wagon:
- Seat Leon Estate
- Skoda Superb Estate
- BMW 5 series touring (with Adaptive drive for a best of both worlds comfort) - but had 4 other BMW's so think it's a chance to try something else
- Merc C43 - stretching the budget probably)

How about a Civic Type R? FK2 is under 25K now and value seems to be reasonably steady as it goes (Depreciation, but by no means terminal).Fun, wild, petrol, fast - 487L Boot, and 1210L with the seats folded. The opening is huge too, so it's easy to load.
Plenty of space front and back (I took my old 9G for week long holidays to Europe with 4 adults in relative comfort, even with camping gear in the back - No 7 Series but fine enough!)
There are some interesting options that are just below the M/AMG/RS etc

How old are your kids? I've been doing the school run in a 911, but at 6 and 8 they are getting a bit big for the rear seats. I've sold it, now looking at something for £30K ish.
On my list - used RS4/6, 340/540, C43 etc. Wild card - the F Pace 3.0S, now dipping under £30K. Plan is to wait a bit, am expecting values to soften over the autumn/winter period.

The kids are the same at 6 and 8, and most of the time we'd take the model 3 - it'd be a backup school run if needed - neither my wife or I are exceptionally tall hence often have ample room in rear seats which can help.
Having done the lotus thing I feel I should do the 911 thing at some point! At least before I'm totally grey and balding ;-)
F pace is the SUV thing and I'd probably do a Macan before anything else... Maybe. Not sure if I can do the SUV thing
The CLS is a good shout for barge like fun. As is the XF-R.
