Essential Spec on a weekend GT4
Discussion
Hi All,
First time poster. I'm lucky enough to have a build slot on a GT4, which will be my weekend car. Been playing with the configurator and it's easy to go crazy with the options.
so far I'm thinking:
CS pack
918 seats
Extended leather
Climate control
Reverse camera and sensor to get in to my garage.
Sports Chrono.
I'm currently in two minds about the PCCB. OPC told me it would be £20k to replace a set....
Bearing in mind this won't be a daily driver, what would you suggest to be essential on a weekend car.
Cheers

Ceramics largely wasted on a GT4 imo although the 718 will probably carry a slight premium over a steel braked equivalent car unlike the 981.
Your spec looks ok depends what options YOU personally like I would drop the creaky cage maybe as less weight and perhaps option light upgrade carbon interior and coloured stitching being 'no brainer options'.

Cheers for the replies chap. Yes for sure, I'll spec it as I want, but it's always nice to hear what others have done and their experience.
Anyone know if, for example, the PCCBs go tits up, how easy/costly is it to replace with standard steels?
Don't know about steels, but Surface Transform discs can be swapped in I think. That will prevent you running the extended warranty though as would steels.Anyone know if, for example, the PCCBs go tits up, how easy/costly is it to replace with standard steels?

By weekend car you mean at the track? if so, good, if not why on earth do you need the CS pack?First time poster. I'm lucky enough to have a build slot on a GT4, which will be my weekend car. Been playing with the configurator and it's easy to go crazy with the options.

I sometimes use mine in the week, so not really qualified to comment. Mine is same as his, but has the remote garage opener which doesn’t actually work.
It does. There's a technique to code it to your door frequency. Don't do all that pointing b
ks with another remote, put the main unit in pairing mode then with the car in range press and hold the homelink button (acting as if your car is a 'blank' remote). That worked for me after trying every other way
I had a 981 GT4 with pccbs, which I’ve had on all my sporting Porsches since 2004, with all the benefits and no disadvantages.
I selected the ceramics specifically for road use but both my son and daughter (pro race driver) used it on track and said the brakes were brilliant - it was the tyres they munched through
Mine had the 918 buckets, which I found tedious for road use, but obviously a big advantage on track.
I think your OPC is misleading you about the cost of Pccbs. I think they are less than £6k as an option, which I consider good value when you add up all the benefits.
The life of the discs in normal use (c.100k mls ++) should make them cost neutral.
Even for extensive track use they can take a huge battering - as the yellow Silverstone GT4 demonstrated.
My other must have is cruise. Low cost option that quite a few people don’t tick.

Replacement, not option, cost is the problem with PCCBs. £10k per axle for two discs and two sets of pads is about right.
They seem to take a lot of wear, so it's damage you need to watch out for and that can happen randomly. Lots of people never have a problem, the odd few do. Would you want to be one of those? I wouldn't and would have serious issues paying £10k per axle for consumables.
There's no right or wrong with PCCBs, it's a very personal choice mostly based around finances.
