Nest Protect - Wired/ Battery options
Discussion
Hello all,
Looking at buying the Nest Protect.
We have 2 smoke alarms (not Nest) wired to the mains at the moment and connected together - when one sounds, so does the other.
Wanting to add 2 Nest Protect - wired to replace existing smoke alarm and then add a battery smoke alarm to a new location. Is this possible?

Just to add, I went for the battery powered version and two years on they're all still going strong. I'm surprised and impressed.
I have battery operated ones going a lot longer,When the batteries do go, use Energizer Lithium. They work much better.
Also, building regs don't allow battery operated in many circumstances - not saying in yours...but regs need to be followed

Both battery and wired versions actually connect wirelessly, not with a link wire, the wired connection is just for power.
I glad I went for wired versions as the pathway illumination is way more useful than I though it would be and a wired connection means it can be set to on all the time when dark if desired.

The motion sensing works quite well for pathway IME. Agree it's useful. I glad I went for wired versions as the pathway illumination is way more useful than I though it would be and a wired connection means it can be set to on all the time when dark if desired.

100% this. Don't even try anything else, they will be drained within days/weeks whereas Energizer Lithiums go for over a year easily when pathfinder is used and for ones where it isn't I've not had to replace in >5 years.Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
