Made it back minus the S2. A 10p fuse caused a lot of expense. Car blew a fuse after knocking a wire off the rear lights while loading the boot. The oil, temp and fuel guage all stopped. After making a comment to the wife about not liking to run without these on the French motorway in such hot weather, toll booth was 10 miles away so I fix it there. With disasterous timing, the water pump dumped all the water out. With no temp gauge to tell me, things got a "bit" hot. Before I knew it, the engine was bar-b-ing its internals. By the time I stopped, the engine was well cooked. Now i need a new engine.:weeping: Not a happy bunny. The moral of the story- By all means, take your car abroad but dont go "shopping"

Wow ! That's totally bad luck. Hope things go better with the repairs. Austec are good for engine work (if they're in your neck of the woods).

This all happened on the 10th. Got a car through the breakdown insurance to continue my HOLIDAY. How much fun I had driving around with four other 2seaters & me in a tin top. Have just heard from insurance and they not bringing my car back till next week. Feel like my legs been chopped off
Been searching the threads for possible Cossie conversion or engine upgrade. Think I gonna just stick with the 2.9 Grannie replacement. Have found a couple that carry a warranty.
So peed off, because everything was done on the car. Full service, brake & clutch fluid change, suspension sorted. OH the joys of motoring
