Hoping the PH collective can help. I've a small amount of money for a reasonable project car. Requirements are it must have an MOT, ideally 6 or 8 cylinders and not be too rotten underneath. I looked at an E34 BMW yesterday which was nice on the top but far too much work underneath. Looking at what's available, it seems I can just stretch to possibly an E39, possibly an early L322 FFRR but what else. Budget is around 1 to 1.5k. A lot of the cars ice seen are either complete dogs, sell quick or far more money than I thought (BMW E38). Ideally localish to Kent or Essex too.

Yoyr thoughts, experiences and help appreciated!

I'd say you'll need nearer 2k & getting something where the rot hasn't set in will be hard with your budget but you can get some worthy options:

CLK320 Don't go for the older W208 as they rot everywhere.
