obsolete bike parts
Discussion
Depends on the bike. Lots of owners clubs or individuals will make parts for the more obscure stuff.
If you're talking of more common stuff you may be surprised how much is easily available. Norton Commando parts are probably the easiest parts to get of any bike I've ever owned.
Personally though, owning a classic is partly for the fun of hands on fettling as well as riding. An awful lot of owners are competent engineers.the internet has made it very easy to get help and support.
Can you be more specific about what you're after?

Honda cb400n parts, im going to have a look at one later with a 'tapperty' engine but its so cheap its just worth getting.
Classic jap parts can be a scary expensive but if you're interested in working and not original then creative solutions can usually be found
As long as i can keep it rolling for some weekend fun im sure it will be ok. This line from a forum has worried me a little tho' All had the same problem the camshafts had ripped up the journals in the cylinder head and no second hand parts about.'
But im sure some engineer somewhere would solve something like this?

That looks good value , you will be surprised whats out there , i have been clearing stuff out of my workshop some parts are nos that i have been sitting on for 25 yrs ! I got given a box of bits by a mate who was moving and couldn’t take them they were not current then ! There are loads of model specific facebook groups with people selling parts, one of the groups i am on is specific to honda xl models, one of the sellers is an iranian guy with a warehouse full of nos parts , the iranian military used them and stockpiled tons of spares .

Obsolete Honda stuff ? CSNL in Holland or David Silvers or find a very old Honda dealer like the one in Sutton
I think you mean CMSNL
Personally I never use them unless I have to but they do have good parts diagrams on line, get the part number and search ebay etc. I would expect most parts for an 84 CB400 would be readily available without too much trouble.

I used to buy and sell a few bikes , i just can’t see the value in some of these “classics” that one though seems quite a good buy , some of the stuff i see is crazy £7k for a fizzy is not unusual and £11k for a 350lc !mygoldfishbowl said:
