PCCB squeaking
Discussion
Any ideas how to stop the pccb from squealing, it does it once they are hot and not cold. Have rebedded them in numerous times, high speed stops etc etc. They are my 5th set of ccb but first on a Porsche, am guessing it's just something I am going to have to accept. Some of you track guys with pccb, and tips or ideas.Cheers.

Try Wurth Anti Squeal. Works extremely well. Not used it on CCB but cured several cars that we terrible.
Have read about the anti squeal, its not just a simple cure though with the centre locks taking the wheel on and off, I will maybe book it in for some at dealer.Thanks.mwstewart said:
You need some heat cycles in them. Mine clear up after some hard stops from well over a ton.
I've also manually de-glazed the pads on occasion but that's a bit of a faff, obviously.
When you say heat cycles, I take it you mean in the same session.I usually only have a half hour run at high speed covering say 20 miles or so, I do get up to speeds well north of the ton under braking, will give it a couple of extra bursts next time out and see.Cheers.I've also manually de-glazed the pads on occasion but that's a bit of a faff, obviously.
Jet washing is a good bet (when they are cold of course). However, I think the noises are also linked to pad wear. The noise is a resonance so is related to anything that affect frequencies - braking pressure, temperature, rotor thickness but also pad thickness. So although the bigs stops / heat cycles can help I've found they stop squealing on their own after a few more miles.
Both ceramics and steels squeal when warm/hot on 991 GT3s (both gens) and GT4s.
Check the handbook which confirms it is perfectly normal.
Glazing may be partly responsible but as Chrisw rightly says dust build up is also responsible and can be at least temporarily alleviated by hosing out when cold.
I would be reluctant to use any spurious fluid brake cleaners which may well invalidate warranty not just on brake items but wheels also.

So it would seem there is a trait for these to squeal with the 991and Gt4, thats fine and puts my mind at rest.I do blow the holes out with power washer and dont use any sort of wheel cleaner on them.
Just thought it was a bit strange as ive got a nice adhesion layer on the discs from the pads.Front holes have a little dust in them though, will give them a power blast before I take her out again.
Thanks again.

My steels never squeal , changed them today , getting pads out takes a few minutes and some tools ......
The steels have changed possibly to stop the cracking , and no holes near the edges just dimples and holes are counter sunk now , lets see . My last discs lasted 10 k miles and 10 track days so reasonable value . About 1,2 k in parts and a hour max to fit .

look the same as my Golf for £300 I fitted 2 weeks ago lol
ALL VAG parts, just Porsche TAX !!!

Brembo tax more like ALL VAG parts, just Porsche TAX !!!

To give Porsche credit, braking systems are expensive to engineer and develop on modern cars. The benefit the Golf has is that the cost of that development is spread over probably 100x the production volume!

rubbish, they buy it in ! those disks are off the rare Club sport so very ltd run disks much rarer than Porsches :-).
Porsche chocolate 1 piece disks are a rip off.
Surprised! You sure they're not shared with another VAG platform car? The way they've maintained the fixed pattern for the cross drillings looks like it's been done for higher volumes.Porsche chocolate 1 piece disks are a rip off.
By comparison, the Porsche ones shown are randomised drillings to avoid inducing any drone harmonics. That's actually a f
king pain in the arse to engineer and will cost them a chunk more to buy in too!The Wookie said:

Porsche buy every thing in and put 100% on it for parts.By comparison, the Porsche ones shown are randomised drillings to avoid inducing any drone harmonics. That's actually a f

Brake MC again 1/2 the price, all LCA now china parts.
it's all cheap crap. Long gone are the nice stamped branded parts you find on older Porkers with well know names on them. It's all VAG crap now days with standard off the shelf calipers.

The VNE discs look the same because all those semi floating discs come from the same 2nd tier supplier. I know because we use them for a couple of our OEM applications too!VNE Automotive disks look like the oem GT3 ones, just like Sebro disks are Porsche disks on a Cayman.

They might be from the same higher volume/cheaper group suppliers but they won't be off the peg. They still have to be engineered and developed for each application, even if there's commonality like a shared casting.
If you're going to get riled by anything, have a look at where some of the names that you might have seen stamped on older parts make their stuff now!
