Wiping the Wipers!!

Hi gang..

Hope you are all enjoying our Mini Heat wave!!
Its weather like this that you remember why you got a Convertible, not to mention a V8 one!! :)

Anyway, small talk aside, Does anyone know where the windscreen wipers came from on the Chim.? As in what car theyve been 'borrowed' from?

Mine are getting rather wobbley so would like some new ones...

Any info, as always is greatfully appreciated.

Do you mean the blades or the actual arms?
The arms are available from any dealer - £10 each or thereabouts.
The blades are technically a TVR part due to the curve on the end to fit the screen. However, it is possible to buy some from Halfords etc and manipulate the end to fit (bend it). This is what I did for mine and they work well.

Be wary of any wobble...if the spindles go, it'll be a dash off (£££'s) job to get repaired.

Yes, indeed!! Mine went and it was a £300 repair to have new spindles supplied and fitted.

I got the new Leven wipers and arms with their specially designed washer system as well. The washers and the wipers are a much better fit than the originals and actually work.

It seems pivots where you can pull the arms off the screen are all wobbley..so you've got a variation of about 4 inches where the wiper arm parks itself. Fortunately the spindles are A.OK at the mo..

Recently had my car serviced at Leven, what are their wipers like then chaps?

I got some halford replacement blades, without giving it a second thought. The passenger side one never quite looked right, ie does not bend on screen, but thought nothing of it. doh.. Guess I will try bending it now so that it works properly.

Specially developed for the car. Each arm and blade are different for the drivers and passenger side for a much better fit than the originals.
I'm not on commision honest! although if Leven are looking in there are still a few bits...................

Slightly moving away from the original topic, what about the intermittent wipe? We all want to know if our way is normal don't we? Well, my chim rests in both the off position and in the full swipe position ie in front of the driver, waits there for about 30 seconds and then goes back the opposite way if the wind is blowing in the right direction?
Any one else have this comical way of operating?

My wipers also "park" on the wrong side of the windscreen temporarally.This is apparently the park switch on the bottom of the motor and needs replacing.Will do this next week when summer ends and the rainy season starts again!
