Keep looking at the Breitling superocean heritage with the mesh bracelet and blue face, just looks stunning .

However at over £3k it’s currently over budget. Is there anything similar or worth looking at with blue face, blue bezel and quite large 44mm ish?

Budget wise was thinking £1000-£2000. Happy to look at new or second hand. Any thoughts

Longines HydroConquest is blue and meaty.

I like these too.

With some patience, a used one should be in budget? Just picked at random:

Failing that, a Hydroconquest on aftermarket mesh?:

the Oris Aquis is a decent bet, but I think you'll struggle to find a mesh to work with it.

My advice is keep saving and get a pre-owned SOH. Don't discount the Gen 1. They're lovely (have mine on today).

Left field option. MeisterSinger Salthora Meta X. Even comes on the same Staib bracelet as the Breitling.
Recently acquired a new one off Chrono 24 at the lower end of your stated price range.
Quite a chunky thing at 43mm, and the bracelet balances things nicely
Excuse the poor photo

Save for the watch you want.

You'll regret it otherwise.

The Oris is worth a look; I've both Superocean (but black with mesh) and an Oris Aquis. Aquis has a dark blue face, sometimes looks black, but is a very good watch. I'm not sure if you can have a mesh strap, mine's a standard stainless strap. Not as big as the Superocean, though.

Buy the watch you really want. Don’t settle for a compromise as you’ll end up buying the Breitling in the end.

Have a look at Mark Worthington (they have new and used Heritages in stock) or Swiss Watches Direct, both will get you one at a decent discount.

I really like this watch as well, just wish it was a bit smaller, and I would like the one with the black face and gold bezel. I don't think they do a 38mm any more.

Tudor movement as well, I believe as part of some reciprocal deal - Breitling's movement goes into some Tudors.

In fact, the generation 1 in brown looks fun. ETA movement I think? And no ceramic dial either. But still...

Sorry OP. You had me going back to a watch I have wanted for some time...

I originally wanted the blue one like the OP but need it in 42mm as i'm not manly enough for 46mm.

But these days the black & rose gold is really grabbing my attention....

To the OP - if the blue dial / bezel combo is what you're after, the suggestions already provided by others look good.

If an arresting blue dial on a large watch is the main thing then this Alpina is comfortably in budget, and a very lovely thing:

OP, have you asked Dom Hackett for a price? I believe he can generally beat retail by c.25%.

The 38mm with the small seconds at 6 wears very small in my view. 42 is a good size on most wrists. The Gen 1 is an aluminium bezel and an ETA 2824 movement, as already mentioned. The Gen 2 got a ceramic bezel and the shared Tudor movement. I prefer the aesthetics of the first gen, plus you can get it in green smile

Also shown in that picture: a good reason not to wear dive watches with French cuffs!

The SOH has a pretty mild bezel, but others can chew through a cuff in a day (I'm looking at you, Sea Dweller!)

This 100% . If you compromise now you will likely regret it. Save for a bit longer and keep and eye on sales (Although I have always had best results negotiating face to face with AD's)

Oh Yes, I always wanted a pelagos in blue and settled for a Black Bay S&G, beautiful thing but not "it". So now I'm saving...

Thanks for all the replies, didn’t realise the Gen 1 were circa £2k second hand so think I will sell off some watches I don’t wear or lime as much and concentrate on looking for a nice second hand 46mm blue superocean heritage .

Agree on this, and ended up waiting for a while before buying my SOH II (42mm version, black dial on mesh).
Very happy I did and I wear it daily now!
