They don't sell for that. Silverstone Auctuons sold one for 45k in February
And this one recently sold, was listed at £43k.https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=ca...
Its weird how back in 1990 that level of power/performance was unheard of outside supercars, it caused an uproar and material for Jasper Carrott (who had one) The Sierra Cosworth was still fairly new and regarded as rapid with 204 bhp. These had a scarcely believable 375 bhp.
Nowadays that power level is hot hatch level power, or the not quite top rung fast saloons.
This doesnt show how feeble the LC is nowadays, it isnt, it still does nearly 180 mph, what it does show is things have got so ridiculous with out fixation with power outputs and acceleration that we now thing 375 bhp is a bit lame and 0-100 mph in just over 10 secs is tardy.
As for this one, seems a bit pricey but then, not really sure what they go for.

It's party trick was enormous power. You can buy 380hp and 420lb/ft from most mainstream manufacturers these days. It weighed 1650kg. It was so tall geared it did 56mpg in first gear.
Everything else about them is hideous and/or cheap.
I really don't get them.
Very good on fuel then. I can't get that out of my Fiat 126.Everything else about them is hideous and/or cheap.

Re build quality, yes they're pretty dire. With the state this particular one was in also makes you wonder what still lurks underneath that paintwork.
Another data point for prices: https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1991-lotus-car...
Even taking into account that it was April and a higher mileage, the one we're discussing here seems rather 'toppy'.
