MrsT7's FB feed is suddenly full of public group stuff, and these are groups she has no affiliation to or has ever joined....

My Google foo is failing me, so how do I stop this ?

Oddly, my feed is (tempst fate) and I wonder if Ive missed a setting somewhere on her phone ?

IOS btw.....

Are these actual groups or just pages she's liked? It happens most commonly when someone constantly shares and likes fake "We're giving away a free holiday to Center Parcs" pages which then get sold onto more sinister organisations once enough people have liked and shared.

You can tap to go into each group and leave group / unlike.

Or if it's a load of pages she's seeing content from, go into the burger menu, Settings and Privacy, Settings, Access your information, Likes and reactions, Pages. You can then scroll through the list of things liked in the Activity Log and use the three dots beside each one to "Unlike".

The burger menu is the three lines in the top right of my first screenshot.

She won't have clicked on these based on what they are called now, they will have been called something more enticing at the time (land rover giveaways etc). Once enough people click to like and share, these groups / pages are effectively a ready made marketing list which get sold onto more sinister parties who now rename them and have a guaranteed promotion hotline to your wife's phone (because she's already clicked like in the past).

Can you post up a screenshot of an example please?

Install FB Purity - this enables you to block lots of things such as shared pages, groups etc.

Ah in that case then, Facebook are just being a PITA again with their enforced features to see how much more money they can rinse out of people biggrin

I've just updated my Android version to the latest version and I'm not seeing these public group posts. Maybe Facebook are doing their A/B targeted testing again to see how many people complain before forcing it onto us?

I think I found it by searching on FB itself. But as mentioned by Turn7, it’s for PC/Mac.

However, my FB feed on my iPhone isn’t cluttered up with junk so perhaps it does prevent some stuff infiltrating FB on mobile devices.
