Ok, so after reading 45 pages of which U.K. town should be erased from the map, and basically leaving me with a feeling that there aren’t actually any towns left un-named, I have to turn the question around.

So, if you were returning from a long stint of working abroad, which U.K. town would you choose to live in assuming you had no particular ties to anywhere else? Where have you been that really hit you as being a great place, that given the choice, you would love to live? Or is it all really that sh*t?....

Happy memories involving a girlfriend and a hedge on the posh side of the river during the Henley Regatta a good many years ago. Best not mention that to my much better half....

I’ve no desire to live anywhere other than where I currently live in Exmouth.

Interesting. Never been there - and I’m guessing neither have most people, hence it still being nice. Parents are down in Plymouth, so I know Exeter a little bit, but never ventured to Exmouth.

This situation happened to me and I chose the suburbs of Poole (the Sandbanks / Canford Cliffs / Branksome Park areas). IMO hard to beat... pretty suburbs with lots of nice houses and tree lined streets, a big golf course in the middle, great sandy beaches, huge harbour - with Brownsea island for visits, the New Forest a short drive away and so are the Purbecks and traditional Dorset countryside and pubs.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink with adjacent Bournemouth providing lots of main city services.

Amazing place to live and raise a family, I think we are very lucky.
