Head shavers

Since lockdown Ive started shaving my head and I actually quite like the look and benefits

I started with clippers and a number 1, then went onto a cut without the guard.

I then bought a head shaver - bit like an electric razor for the face.

I find I like the look the best after 2 days growth of the shaver.

Sooo heres my question

Is there a shaver that cuts close to stubble length and not completely bald/smooth?

The one I use leave my head almost 'wet shave' close whereas Id like it a touch less keen?

I was forced to shave my head after the OH attempted to shave it without a guard on the shaver.
It is much easier to manage and since im losing my hair anyway it looks better.
Be interested to see what others recommend as i've bene using a wet shaver

I think the closest you'll get to that is a Wahl Balding.
I used one for years and very happy with it, but have since switched to headblade moto for a proper shiny (or matte) dome.

I got one of these regular hair clippers. The shortest it will go is 0.5mm with increments of 0.5mm up to 2.5mm (a grade 1 being about 3mm). Apart from with the guard removed, obvs. ‘5 o’clock shadow’ is what it looks like.

I went for Wahl Balding and have been using a BIC now for about 6 years.

The Wahl Balding is one of the closest shaves you'll get, short of a wet shave. The OP is looking for something which isn't so close. Unless of course, you meant to recommend a Wahl Balding clipper with a guard on.

I used the wahl balding for a few years. Closest you will get to a wet shave with a little stubble left.

I moved to wet shave during lockdown with a Gillette Mach 'something!' and much prefer it now. Quicker as well in the shower.

Nope. Shortest guard is about 3mm iirc which is not what was asked for. Balding leaves roughly what I get 36-48 hours after a proper wet shave.

Yep equivalent to 3 days after a wet shave for me with the Wahl balding. Which is fine but does mean you need to use it daily or so if you want to keep that length which is a faff.

I went through the clippers phase and now use a Phillips wet and dry face shaver. Was £35, cordless and easy to use in the shower. If you do it every other day it's quick. If you leave it a week, you need several goes and some patience, but it'll still get there. Well impressed. So, if the stubble phase passes, I can recommend a wet and dry job for the shower.

I've been using my beard trimmer. The guard flips round. OK it's a bit smaller but not so much I'd buy another one just for the upper bonce.

Received my 'balding' clippers off Amazon yesterday but annoyingly came with a two pin euro plug

That's the unprecedented demand from lockdown. Give it 6 months and theyll be back down. I wanted an olympic barbell but obviously gyms aren't open and somehow the cheapest is £127... argos does them for 49 but out of stock.

Bonkers to pay £100 for something to shave your head. No way!

I don't think anyone can have a good excuse to charge more than say £50.

I was going to try out the SKULL SHAVER thing, but again how much..!?!?!?

I'll struggle along with my really old 3 headed circular shaver thing and my dog clippers if I'm lazy and leave it for a while.

I use a £20 5 in 1 head shaver off of ebay.

Use it once every 3 days.

Perfect.
