Is it right for the RAF to replace the headstone?

No, to quote George Orwell
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
Seems we are slowly getting there with getting rid of statues, calls to rename streets and history being rewritten.
Social media mob rule, anyone who disagrees with their criteria is shouted down and called a racist.

Unless he had a very good (and not rooted in racism) reason for naming his dog "
", I can't see why it should stay.
I think its safe to say he did not have a good reason more that was what he called his dog an his dog has a place in history as does Guy Gibson. We can't rewrite history so we have to accept we won't always like things. I dont think anyone is celbrating racist dogs name its just what it happend to be called
", I can't see why it should stay.b

It's quite ironic that Guy Gibson and the vast majority of all the others from his generation who fought and died to defeat Nazism and fascism would themselves now be classed as Nazis and fascist by today's standards for the views, attitudes and opinions that they held at the time.
Not at all.Times and attitudes change that's all.
Well some do.

It was almost the standard name for black dogs at that time, it wouldn't have been regarded as racist. Someone told me the dog that played the part in the Dambusters film had the same name.
", I can't see why it should stay.Dont have an issue with it. Seems the sensible thing to do.
It is written down enough and in histories, certainly a few books I have. 10 years ago I would have huffed n puffed but really not needed today. Move on. Think of the people that died instead. They are still remembered on both sides.
