Just fitted this kit. Removed the original airbox but whats the other box in the rear wing for, it looks like another air box. Does this need to come out as the air comes from this for my cold air pipe. Should i remove it all together and just drop a pipe down to the side intake vent. Can i take it out as it looks big to come through the gap. advice please

How wierd is this as I just came on the forum to ask the very same question.

I just got a Hurricane system and was taking the old air box out when I found the other box stuffed in the corner. Trouble is I can't see how it is going to come out of the gap.

Suggestions also please !

Dunno what the other box is in question, one of the S2 gang will help I'm sure.

Not keen on the idea of fitting an open K&N into an Elise engine bay though. Without any enclosure or ducting to make sure only cold air gets blown over it you're more than likely going to reduce the power of the engine when it's hot (as it will be hauling in hot air from the engine compartment) at the expense of a bit of noise.

I think Ju. had an interesting arrangement in his S1 though where he added an extra long bit of pipe and mounted the K&N right near to the air inlet deeper into the wing. A cheaper option than a Hurricane I guess.

Also I've seen other people make custom containers for the K&N to enclose the filter.

However, £ for £ the Hurricane is (IMvHO) the better option. I actually have a 2nd hand one going spare right now if you're interested. Check in the classifieds for details.

Steve,

Just got the answer off the SELOC forums.

You need to remove the wheel and the inner plastic arch and the old box will drop out. Its just an empty box so I can't quite figure out of what use it was.

Be careful when removing the arch as it is mostly held in by crappy plastic screws which get mashed easily.

Just fitted my Hurricane and been for a spin. Sounds like a proper sportscar now !
