Tyre pressures on a T350
Discussion
I've half asked this question in another thread but didn't get a definite answer so here goes in a dedicated thread :)
What should the tyre pressures be on a T350 with standard 18" wheels and standard Toyo Proxy tyres? The hand book talks about 16" wheels on a Tamora so this is no good.
Luckily I checked them before leaving Le Mans, this was the first time I check the pressures since picking the car up a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't believe it!! One rear tyre was just over 40psi and the other was on 30psi!! To top it off the front tyres were on 35psi and 28psi. I have no idea why they were ever set to these pressures, I had assumed they would all be correct on picking the car up!
I changed the pressures to what I think was a reasonable 30psi at the rear and 28psi at the front. This made the car so so so much better! I thought I had made a mistake in buying a TVR when I first picked the car up, it was so twitchy and anything above 50mph was just plain scary!! I though that this was just the nature of TVRs.... thank God this isn't the case. Makes you realise how much tyre pressures really do effect the car!

24psi all round. It'll feel sooo much better than 30psi. Lord know what it must have felt like before.
Remember in really hot weather the pressures will be a little higher even before driving. The 24psi is when cool so check them late a night or something if it's still toasty in the UK (I'm in the US at the mo' and heard about the heatwave - got an hosepipe bans yet?

Cheers!
I shall change them all tomorrow! If it makes the car even better I can't wait.
When on track what should the tyre pressures be at when warm? I want the best possible performance for when I go to the 'ring! I have a tyre inflator thing so can change them as needed at the side of the road or in the pits
Whatdo people generally prefer? The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s or the Toyo Proxy TS-1s?

Leave the tyres std pressure, esp. at the 'ring where you won't be cornering as hard as you would on a shorter track (unless you're a ringmeister you will not stress the car much at all on the ring ... unless you go off
).
I left mine std pressure at the last trackday I did (Cadwell) and it performed just fine. The fronts are very low profile so don't roll off the rim too much. Esp. compared to my old Chimaera the T350 doesn't wear tyres half as fast (thanks to better track suspension geo I guess).

I wouldn't quite class myself as a 'ring meister. Maybe one day. I've done 24 laps (all last year) and hope to do many more, but it will probably take the rest of my life to master it!
I definitely pushed my Leon Cupra R to the limits when I was there last year. I'm guessing that the limits on the T350 will be much higher so I am unlikely to get to these (with my current ability anyway).
I think a whole 4 litres of spare Castrol Formula RS 10W-60 with me though, maybe more! The car definitely seemed to drink quite a bit oil when blatting it back from Le Mans!

I do like the Toyos, in the Chim, when I even hinted at accelerating a little briskly, the wheels would spin wildly, in the Tam, I can hardly get them to spin at all! Even under HARD acceleration, I just get the faintest of squeels and the car always stays in a straight line.
I sometimes wonder if I have that Hydratrack thingie, or is the Tam so much more civilised than the Chim!!??
